Concussions in the NFL

Concussions are one of the leading career ending injuries in the NFL. A concussion is a brain injury that is caused by a blow to the head. In many cases you can be concussed and not know it sometimes it wont even show up on an "MRI".
                                                         
You don't have to pass out or lose conscious to indicate you have a concussions many NFL players will go a whole game without knowing that they have a concussion. In many cases players will no they have a concussion but they don't want to tell the trainer because they know they will have to be taken out. Brett Favre one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time was diagnosed when he was 47 years old which was 6 years after he retired from the NFL.
                                                       
There is a wide spectrum of symptoms that can occur after a concussion. According to the as Mayo Clinic some symptoms of an concussion are

-Headache: can be persistent or severe


-Cognitive: amnesia, disorientation, or mental confusion


-Sleep: sleep disturbances or sleepiness


-Gastrointestinal: nausea or vomiting

-Whole body: blackout, fatigue, or poor balance


-Also common: irritability, mild depression, ringing in the ears, or sensitivity to light

Overall a concussion if not treated can be a career ending injury and complicate the way you live for the rest of that why it is important to treat and be aware on any symptoms that you may have.
